The short version: We collect only what's needed to make the app work. We never sell your data. Your favor categories and history are private to you and your partner.

1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect

Account Information:

Email address (for login and account recovery)
Display name (shown to your partner)
Password (stored securely using bcrypt hashing — we never see your actual password)
Apple ID identifier (if you use Sign in with Apple)

App Data:

Favor categories you create
Favor balances, offers, and transaction history
Ratings and notes on transactions
Profile photo or emoji avatar
Venmo/Cash App usernames (optional, for payment convenience)

Automatically Collected:

Device type and operating system version
App usage timestamps (last active)

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To connect you with your partner in a shared household
To store and display your favor balances, offers, and history
To send push notifications about offers and activity (if enabled)
To improve the app and fix bugs

4. Who Can See Your Data

Your partner: When you join a household, your partner can see your shared history, offer activity, favor balances, display name, and avatar. They cannot see your email address or password.

No one else: We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties. Period.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by HostGator in the United States
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (industry standard)
API communication uses HTTPS encryption
Authentication uses JWT tokens with short expiration times
The app supports Face ID / Touch ID for additional on-device security

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Apple Sign In: For passwordless authentication. We receive your name and email (or relay email) from Apple.
Apple TestFlight: For beta distribution. Apple's privacy policy applies to TestFlight usage.
Venmo / Cash App: If you choose to link payment accounts, we only store your username. We never process payments directly — the app opens Venmo/Cash App for you to complete transactions.

We do not use analytics tracking, advertising SDKs, or any data brokers.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (profile, categories, balances, history) will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — everything is visible in the app
Correct your data — edit your profile, categories, and ratings anytime
Delete your account — contact us at joshdanielsjr@gmail.com
Export your data — contact us and we'll provide a copy

9. Children's Privacy

Favor Tracker is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 17. If we discover that a child under 17 has created an account, we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
